Both of my children had the great privilege of being assigned to Ms. Lisa Csatari's fourth grade class at the Pine Brook School in Manalapan, New Jersey. She was kind, supportive, and wonderfully enthusiastic about teaching. The fall of fifth grade, Kristina was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to attend much school. Ms. Csatari wrote her letters and sent her books and games to keep her young mind learning. Her care and concern for a former student was amazing!
After Kristina passed away, Ms. Csatari has faithfully honored Kristina's memory by attending each "Wheel/Heel to Heal" (a fundraising event held by The Institute for Children). She is usually followed by a bevy of former students. In the spring of 2002, at the urging of her students, Ms. Csatari created the Bandanas of Hope project which not only honored Kristina's caring spirit but also gave something important to children who've lost their hair from chemotherapy treatments.
